How do I setup a custom domain?

| Need help setting up your custom domain? | Upgrade to annual billing or the Pro plan and get our team to do the DNS setup for you. To do so simply upgrade via the pricing page and contact our team at support@mixo.io for instructions to provide us access.

This article will give you a general overview on how to setup a custom domain on your Mixo website:

Log into your Mixo account dashboard
Click on the Custom Domain section and enter the domain name you have purchased (on GoDaddy, NameCheap etc)
Here you will find 3 records (1 CNAME and 2 TXT records) provided by Mixo. These need to be added into your registrars DNS settings.
Log into your registrar’s account page and on the registrar’s DNS settings page, add the 3 records (1 CNAME and 2 TXT records) provided by Mixo
Save the changes and wait for the records to propagate (they can take up to an hour to refresh)
Go back to Custom Domain section on Mixo and refresh the records.
Once all records have been changed to "Active", you must Publish your site to ensure the latest code points to your site.

How to create a website for free with Mixo?

In this article, we will cover off the basics on how to use Mixo if you are starting from scratch. If you follow the activity in this document, you may just go from zero to something meaningful in no time. So, let's get started.

Generate a website in seconds

On the homepage, click on one of the Get Started buttons to go to the generator
Enter an idea for a business. It's important to word this in the form of a concept or business idea. For example, "an online hairdressing service" would have better result than "haircare". The more specific you can be the better.
Once the AI generates you a concept, click "Save and Customize" to save it to your account. You may be asked to sign up / log in at this point.
Next you will be presented with confirmation and the ability to upgrade or continue on the free plan. The benefit of upgrading at this point is you will get access to additional editor tools (like embedding videos) and customizing your URL. If you wish to continue on the free plan scroll below the plans and click continue with free.

Can I download the source code for my Mixo site?

Accepted Answer

No. It is not possible to download a Mixo site or any of its pages as our Editor needs to be in constant connection with our servers.

Mixo does not support the exporting of files created using Mixo to an external destination or host. All Mixo sites and creations are hosted on Mixo's servers. T

Yes. On the free plan, you can create a site, edit and publish it live. The main difference between the paid basic plan is the paid plan allows you to hook up to a custom domain and allows you to remove branding

Are custom domains provided or do I need to purchase my own?

Accepted Answer

We don't provide a custom domain, you will need to purchase your own domain from a provider like GoDaddy, NameCheap etc.

It's in your interest to own your domain since it gives you control to move to other web builders in future and own the Google ranking of your site.

Once you own a domain, you can connect it up by adding DNS settings to the domain.
